FRONTIERS 2 Conference, 12-15 February 2003

FRONTIERS 2 was a residential 4-day conference. Participants were encouraged to stay for the whole duration. The format of the conference included formal presentations of recent work relevant to ecological economics as well as formal and informal in-depth debate and discussion. More details on the programme content and session formats can be found under 'Programme' (click the orange navigation button on the left).

In the light of political developments during the meeting, conference participants issued their statement with regard to the threat by US President Bush and the UN Security Council to declare war on Iraq. Statement in pdf format (9Kb).

Who can participate?

Selection of participants in the first instance will be based on submitted suggestions for contributions in the form of papers and/or posters. For submission details, see under Participation. The registration form can be downloaded below (this form needs to be completed by all participants - those who present and those who simply attend without formally presenting their work).

Young researchers are particularly encouraged to participate. EU grants for young researchers (up to age 35) are available in the form of accommodation and travel grants. Applicants need to be national of an EC Member State or an Associated State at the time of the event, or have been resident in a Member State of the European Union for the past 5 years (see http://www.cordis.lu/fp5/src/3rdcountries.htm for the current list of Associated States). Please e-mail a letter of request (outlining your specific interest(s) in the area of ecological economics) and attach a 2-page CV (as an rtf or word95 file) including a list of your publications to: FRONTIERS2.ESEE@ull.es.

About the Venue

The FRONTIERS 2 conference will take place in the Hotel Maritim large enough to accommodate all conference participants and with good conference facilities (including rooms overlooking the sea). The hotel is situated on the coast at Los Realejos, about two kilometres from the city centre of Puerto de la Cruz. A hotel shuttle bus runs 10 times a day (except Sundays) between the hotel and the busy town centre of Puerto de La Cruz.

A gala conference dinner will be held on Friday 14 February 2003. Venue to be confirmed.
