ESEE is the European branch of the International Society of Ecological Economics (ISEE).

ESEE is a non-profit, member-governed, organisation dedicated to advancing understanding of the relationships among ecological, social and economic systems for the mutual well-being of nature and people.

ESEE publishes a newsletter and books (in association with various publishers); holds regional and international meetings; develops educational materials; and facilitates a voice for ecological economists in public forums.

3rd Summer School on the Island of Samothraki, Greece Aquatic & Social Ecology: Theory and Practice

The course is designed as a 2-week excursion to Samothraki with the aim to learn and apply aquatic ecology and social ecology approaches in a local setting while supporting current research and building synergy with the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve process. The course gives students the opportunity to engage in a real-life project and utilise their scientific training to support the process further, namely the creation of a management plan with a set of activities towards sustainability, and a science plan for further research on the island that would also meet local interests. This will provide students the experience of participating in a transdisciplinary research process, being exposed to a search for solutions for sustainability and development challenges, and learning to interact with stakeholders in a culturally challenging environment.

Rethinking Sustainability Models and Practices: Challenges for the New and Old World Contexts

The International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS) is pleased to announce its 22nd Annual Conference to be held 13-15 July 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal. The conference is hosted by the School of Science and Technology (FCT) and the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (CENSE) at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL), in association with ISDRS.
